Starry Night by Olivier Grade 233 viewsAs a whole class, we looked at the painting on the smart board. We discussed about what we saw in the painting. Students named objects, colors etc. We also described feelings and movements. Students studied the colors and the painting techniques that were used. Finally, we used the smart board to look at the spatial organization of the painting. The students were then asked to reproduce the painting. This one is inspired by Vincent Van Gogh's painting, "Starry Night." It was done using wax crayons on white paper.

We dripped paint, blew it around with straws, used various scrapers, rolled paint-covered marbles, dabbed cotton swabs, sprayed paint with toothbrushes, dragged the paint around with string, and scratched it with toothpicks.Jun 16, 2011
